Portland japanese garden maple. It boasts one of the most famous maple trees on planet earth and offers infinite photo opportunities for capturing serene moments of nature. For these few weeks each year the Gardens Japanese maples woven amongst a curtain of native evergreens turn to fiery shades of red and gold. Deep purple-red leaves have prominent black veins.

Japanese Maples 1 foot up to 5 feet. Spring and Fall will typically give you the best colours but in all honesty the garden is beautiful all. Small to medium sized deciduous tree with an upright rounded habit.
Fall time brings a beautiful crimson color to the foliage. The recently expanded Portland Japanese Garden is a standout in any season but autumn is perhaps the most breathtaking time of year to view its eight public gardens spread over 12 acres. In Spring of 2017 the Garden opened its new Cultural Village complete with new garden spaces classrooms exhibition and gallery space and the Umami Cafe.
Face coverings are required in all indoor and outdoor spaces. Autumn is my favorite time to visit the garden and I try to make it there every year. Photographers capture our famous Japanese Maple.
